Ownership, business interests and payment information for the company operating Sussex Direct Cremation.
Terms of business
Wealden Funeral Services Ltd is a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors (NAFD) and subscribes to their current Code of Practice, a copy of which is available on request from their office. We aim to act professionally and respectfully and provide a courteous, sensitive, and dignified service to all our families.
We provide a bespoke service to meet the needs of our families/applicants and provide a “Confirmation of Funeral Arrangements” with an estimate of costs of charges which are likely to be incurred based on the details that have been discussed. This will include the costs of our services as a Funeral Director and the third-party costs known as the disbursements including, for example, crematoria or cemetery fees, minister/officiant, and doctors’ fees for cremation which we pay on behalf of the applicant. We will try to ensure these costs’ accuracy at the time of the arrangements, but they may be subject to change if the third parties change their costs. Our final invoice will be sent to the applicant 3–7 days after the service has taken place.
Payment arrangements
We politely request that the disbursement fees are paid at least three working days prior to the funeral taking place and that full payment of our invoice is made within 7 days of presentation from the date of the invoice. If the account is left unpaid after this time, then we reserve the right to charge an administration fee of £100 and interest at a rate of 4% above our bank’s base rate from time to time in force unless otherwise agreed.
Declaration of ownership
Wealden Funeral Services Ltd is an independent funeral director that trades under the same name, whose registered company number is 12670306 and whose registered office is at The Heathfield Centre, Streatfield Road, Heathfield, TN21 8LA, and whose sole director is Andrew Kirk.
Financial interests
We have no business or material financial interests in any price comparison website which compares funeral directors, crematoria or stone masons and their respective prices. Further, we choose not to advertise on any of these sites as our low prices are always available on our own website.
Register of charitable donations, contributions or gratuities
Wealden Funeral Services makes a regular donation to Young@Heart for the sponsorship of a place in their social meeting club for the elderly. We occasionally make charitable donations to good causes, for example, a local charity for a fundraiser they have arranged. These are usually between £50 and £100 in value. By their nature, these are one-off and occasional payments by their definition.
We make no other form of payment to a third party that does not relate to a cost incurred or a service provided by the third party on behalf of or to us.
All funeral directors are legally required to publish this Confirmation Statement, including all sections on their website and within their business premises to ensure that they understand properly whom you are dealing with.
