Our direct cremation includes the return of ashes in a suitable container. If you would prefer a different urn, consider where it will be kept and whether the ashes will later be buried or scattered. Check the size and suitability with the supplier, or speak with us about the possibilities.

Sharing ashes between keepsakes

Some families choose to divide a small amount of ashes between keepsakes, while keeping, burying or scattering the remainder. Discuss this with those involved before choosing anything. A specialist supplier can explain how much ash an item needs and how it should be provided.

Memorial jewellery

There are specialist companies that make jewellery incorporating ashes, including glass pieces. Others make engraved jewellery or items based on a fingerprint. Products, materials and costs vary; check the maker’s requirements and arrangements before ordering. These are possibilities to explore, rather than a list of products supplied by SDC.

Other personal ideas

A memory box, favourite photograph, handwritten note or piece of clothing can be a keepsake too. You might ask an artist to create something personal, checking their availability, costs and timescales directly. There is no need to buy something to remember a person well.
